Foreign Nurse Relocation

Foreign Trained Nurses are nurses who were trained and licensed outside of the United States. Foreign Trained Nurses are able to work in Massachusetts once they have demonstrated the necessary educational and competency requirements.

One of the best resources in our state to assist foreign educated nurses or nursing students is the Boston Welcome Back Center.

This Massachusetts' initiative is focused on assisting nurses from around the world to obtain their licenses and\or additional education in Massachusetts. The program is an educational consortium consisting of Bunker Hill Community College, MassBay Community College, Roxbury Community College, UMass Boston and the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education.

The Boston Welcome Back Center assists individuals with developing a career path plan that builds on each nurse's strengths, skills, experience and education. Individualized support may include assistance with the Massachusetts licensure process, Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS), Professional Credential Services Inc. (PCS), educational support, ESL, volunteer opportunities, and a variety of groups here at the Center.
